    A former Neosho elementary school counselor has plead guilty to child sex crimes. 41-year-old Jacob Oakes admitted to his conduct, specifically stating he had intercourse with an individual that was under 17 years of age. He will be sentenced in late August. Court documents say that Oakes sexually assaulted the girl on multiple occasions, beginning in 2021, when she was 14-years-old. The encounters then continued through at least once in 2024.

    A man from Girard, Kansas, was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning, north of Pittsburg. The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened at the intersection of Highway 69 and Highway 160. 21-year-old Matthew Jeffrey Westhoff-Strode was traveling east through the intersection when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old boy, who failed to stop at a red light. Westhoff-Strode was pronounced dead a short time later. The teenager was not injured.

Duncan, 40, was charged with three counts of being a felon in possession of firearms, by a federal grand jury in Springfield, Mo.
