Nevada "Lock the Clock" Bill Could Be Harmful to Golf Industry

A new bill in the Nevada legislature has Nevada golf course owners and operators shaking their heads as yet another attempt to make operating a profitable golf course more difficult. The “lock the clock” bill AB81 has been introduced to end daylight savings. This could alter start times for courses and cut into revenue. An example of the impact on sunset and sunrise without daylight savings is that the sun would rise around 4:32 am on the summer solstice and set around 7:30 PM each year.

South Dakota State Women's Golf Wins Home Away From Home Event at Boulder Creek

Boulder Creek Golf Club is the unofficial home away from home of the South Dakota State men’s and women’s golf programs. In March 2025, the team won their home event, the Jackrabbit Invitational, played at the course. Here’s the women’s story and also of Mackenzie Mages, who was low medalist. Powered by a first-place finish by McKenzie Mages, the South Dakota State women’s golf team won the team title at the Spring Jackrabbit Invite Tuesday afternoon. Mages finished 3-under par for the tournament.
Boulder Creek Golf Club is Home Away From Home for South Dakota State Golf Teams

Not only do the South Dakota State men’s and women’s golf teams host annual home tournaments at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., but the schools get there early to play, practice and qualify. As of this March 9, 2025, posting, the men’s team won the title yet again in 2025, while the women play in a few days. SDSU’s Bryson Mercier won the individual title.

Esteban Toledo came from nothing to becoming a PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions winner. It all came from hard work, faith, dedication, and some help from others. Toledo has never forgotten where he came from and created the Esteban Toledo Family Foundation to help others like him. In part because of a benefit golf event at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada, Toledo helps orphans in his native Mexico. And in 2025, Francisco became the first person from Toledo’s orphanage to graduate.
