Learning for Justice aims to support the Southern Poverty Law Center's mission by promoting racial justice both in the South and across the country. They collaborate with communities to break down white supremacy, bolster movements that embrace diversity, and advocate for the human rights of everyone.

A common understanding of the purpose of civics education is that it should teach students about the mechanics of American democracy, yet only seven states require high school students to complete one year of civics or government studies. While many states require high school students to complete a half-year civics course, 13 states have no civics course requirement at all.
