Lowndes Signal
The Lowndes Signal, which merged with The Hayneville Citizen-Examiner, first started publishing on April 16, 1925, under the leadership of Judge J.D. Lamar as its editor. Lamar held this role until 1937, when he passed the reins to his daughter, Mrs. Charlie Mae Small, who continued as editor until her retirement. In July 1946, she sold the paper to Seth Kenneth and Jewel Davis Perry, who took on the roles of editor and publisher until July 1960. At that point, they sold the newspaper and their printing business to Cecil B. Cross Jr. and Frieda Brown Cross. The Cross family relocated the newspaper back to Fort Deposit from Montgomery, where it had been temporarily based, into the original building that had once housed it. They operated the newspaper and printing business, which served the entire county, until they sold it to Boone Newspapers in 1997.

This is truly an unwinnable argument. Many congregations have been influenced by the contemporary church movement—though this movement from the 80s is hardly contemporary anymore.
