OLD LYME —The Old Lyme Town Band (OLTB) sounds off its 50th anniversary season with a free gala concert in the auditorium of Lyme-Old Lyme High School on Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m. All are welcome and there is no charge for admission. it was Michele Smith Dickey of Old Lyme—a member of the current band—who conceived the idea of re-forming the band in 1975 after a 65-year hiatus. She notes there were about 30 musicians at that time and the first volunteer conductor was Donald Janse.

OLD LYME – Change is going to come to Halls Road, but the Zoning Commission on Monday said now is not the time. LYME – Thirteen members of Lyme Grange 147 have earned recognition awards for decades  of service. The 129-year-old organization is based in the Hamburg section of Lyme off Rte. 156. Grange Secretary Nancy Beebe announced the Long Service awards in a press release dated April 10.  “To the Grange, ‘long’ means time measured in decades, not mere years, because of its traditions of consistency and continuity in community service,” she said.

OLD LYME – The spring season brings three exhibitions to the Lyme Art Association (LAA) beginning April 18. Sunflower’s Bloom; Ship to Shore: A Marine Show; and Stillness: A Still Life, run through May 29 at the LAA gallery, 90 Lyme Street. The association in a press release said Sunflower’s Bloom is a juried exhibition dedicated to supporting Ukraine and its people.
