    As urban areas encroach onto formerly remote rural areas, livestock operators are frequently targeted with complaints about manure odors. A recent demonstration project staged by researchers at the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) to take a proactive approach to the problems of pig manure odor by trying to reduce it at the source; namely the livestock buildings where the manure originates.
