    From Harry Potter to Super Mario Bros. to Frankenstein's monster, Universal Orlando Resort is pulling out all the pop culture stops at its newest and largest theme park in Florida. With five distinctively themed sections and a 500-room hotel, the multibillion-dollar Universal Epic Universe is slated to open to the public on May 22, just in time for the start of summer — when the Orlando area's theme parks are usually jammed with families and young park-goers fresh out of school.

    According to numerous sources, the Hotel Vin, an Autograph Collection by Marriott property in Grapevine, Texas, is expanding. In the plans are an upscale new tower, the Hotel Vin Reserve, which will double the room count to 240. Breaking ground later this year, the hotel also will add a new outdoor pool and more event space, while making thoughtful enhancements throughout. Some reports mention that a spa also is in the works.

    Hilton and Wine Country Hospitality Partners have announced the development of the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country, coming to Fredericksburg in 2027. The sprawling property will feature 60 guest rooms and suites, as well as 37 resort villas eligible for the rental pool as 74 additional keys, and 50 residences. The resort will offer five food-and-beverage outlets, an 11,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, two resort-style pools, and more.

    The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, one of Southern California's largest hotels, soon will embark on a major propertywide renovation, beginning early this year and taking place in phases through the end of 2026. All 1,628 guest rooms will be updated, as will the hotel's more than 320,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, multiple dining venues, the sports court and the two rooftop pool decks.
