    Hitachi Global Air Power is launching a native plant restoration project at the company’s Michigan City headquarters. The restoration project is slated to begin this month. It will convert a portion of the campus from traditional turf grass into a native prairie habitat. The project will span five years and transform nearly seven acres of lawn into a prairie ecosystem. About 85% of the turf will be converted in the first year. The remaining 15% will be phased in over the following years.

    South Bend International Airport saw a record number of passengers take off in March 2025. Over 50,000 people departed on flights from the airport in a single month. March 2025 enplanements – an industry metric indicating the number of people boarding an airplane from a specific airport – increased 24.6% yearly from 40,612 to 50,602.  At the end of the first quarter, South Bend International Airport enplanements reached 134,624, a 27.7% increase over the first quarter of 2024.

He will serve as the firm’s director, state and local tax practice leader, a newly created role. Gritton previously served as a financial management technician in the U.S. Air Force.

    Michael Varner is leaving Kruggel Lawton to take a management role in an organization serving individuals and families in Elkhart County. Varner joined Kruggel Lawton in October 2005, as senior manager. He was elected partner Jan. 1, 2007. When Kruggel Lawton opened its Goshen office in 2019, Varner transitioned into the role of partner-in-charge for Elkhart County. Barry Hall, Kruggel Lawton managing partner, expressed gratitude for Varner’s service.
