Spurgeon Knights Men’s Soccer Team Make National Tournament and Celebrate Historic Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo—The Spurgeon College men’s soccer team traveled to Orlando, Florida, last week to compete in the 2024 NCCAA DII National Championship Tournament. Making its first National Tournament appearance in program history, the Spurgeon Knights placed 8th in a historic season. “I am incredibly proud of the Spurgeon Knights men’s soccer team,” said President Jason Allen. “To make the National Championship Tournament in the first five years of our program’s history says a lot.
Midwestern Seminary Extends 100% Tuition Scholarships for 105 First-Year Seminary Students in For the Church Cohorts

KANSAS CITY, Mo—Midwestern Seminary has announced that full-tuition scholarships for first-year master’s students in For the Church Cohorts will be extended to incoming students in the 2025–26 academic year. Through FTC Cohorts, residential master’s students receive faculty mentorship, focused community, and hands-on training in their chosen ministry area during their first year of seminary.

KANSAS CITY, Mo—Midwestern Seminary welcomed R. Albert Mohler Jr. to campus on October 29–30 to deliver the annual Spurgeon Lectures on Biblical Preaching. Mohler, who serves as president of Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, preached from two Old Testament passages, drawing out their applications for expositional preaching.

KANSAS CITY, Mo—Midwestern Seminary celebrated the October 1 release of Proclaiming the Triune God: The Doctrine of the Trinity in the Life of the Church by Professor of Christian Theology Matthew Barrett and graduates Ronni Kurtz, Samuel G. Parkison, and Joseph Lanier. The book is adapted from seven sermons that the authors preached at Emmaus Church in North Kansas City, Missouri, in 2021 while serving together as pastors.
