NASA Spinoff
Spinoff is a publication from NASA that showcases technologies that are accessible to the public. Since its inception in 1976, NASA has highlighted around 50 new technologies each year in this annual publication, which also features a searchable database of these innovations. The journey began in 1973 with a black and white document called the "Technology Utilization Program Report," which detailed products that emerged from space research. Due to the growing interest in these findings, NASA transitioned to colorful annual reports, launching Spinoff in 1976. Over the years, NASA has generously provided free copies to universities, media outlets, inventors, and the general public. Spinoff illustrates how NASA collaborates with various industries and small businesses to make new technologies available to everyone. As of 2016, the database includes more than 1,920 products that have emerged since 1976.
