Northern News Services (NNSL) is a news organization located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, employing around 60 staff members. It's one of the few independent newspapers still operating in Canada, committed to creating original content without depending heavily on syndicated news. NNSL releases seven distinct publications each week: Kivalliq News, Inuvik Drum, Dehcho Drum, Yellowknifer (available on Wednesdays and Fridays), and News/North (covering news from both Northwest Territories and Nunavut).

An aggressive dog in Naujaat that was euthanized after it attacked other dogs has tested positive for rabies, according to the Nunavut Department of Health on April 11. Anyone whose dog that was bitten by the canine in question should call the regional environmental health officer at 867-645-6660 or 867-473-1995. Any person who was bitten or scratched by a fox or a dog is encouraged to go to the local health centre and report the incident immediately, the Department of Health stated.

An 18-year-old from Edmonton has been charged after he was allegedly inside an Elder's home without permission in Fort Resolution. According to police, it happened on April 3 at around 10:15 a.m. after Fort Resolution RCMP received two calls about someone being inside a residence who didn't belong there. The home, an Elder's residence, was empty at the time.

Iqaluit RCMP are investigating a break and enter and theft that occurred on Sunday, April 6, at Yummy Shawarma. Three suspects were captured on a surveillance camera as they were taking several food and beverage items, according to the police. Suspect one was wearing an orange toque, black jacket with accented grey sleeves (the right forearm has strip of red tuck tape).

The initial gold produced from Nunavut's newest mine is expected to be just several weeks away. “The mine continues to [be] under construction. It is on track to pour first gold in June of 2025, so in the next couple months," said B2Gold's Randall Chatwin, senior vice-president of legal and corporate communications, while discussing the Goose mine.
