Jamaican reggae and roots reggae star Max Romeo passed away today in the company of his family. He had been hospitalised over the past few days, but died earlier today (April 11). Romeo achieved chart success in his home country and in the United Kingdom. He had several hits with the vocal group the Emotions. His song “Wet Dream” (1968) included overtly sexual lyrics and launched a new style of reggae. He is known for such iconic works as the critically acclaimed album, Let the Power Fall.

Reggae legend Colvin ‘Cocoa Tea’ Scott died this morning following a cardiac arrest. He was 65His wife, Malvia Scott, confirmed to The Gleaner that the veteran singer passed away at 4:46 this morning at a hospital in Broward, Ft Lauderdale, Florida. He was initially diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019, but for the last six months he was also struggling with pneumonia. He was hit with the dire prognosis six years ago.
