Southern Iowa Rural Water Association customers are being asked to explain the history and materials used for water main on their property - if they even know what it is made of. The survey is based on the Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to have all public water utility lead pipe replaced in the next 10 years. The announcement was made last month. SIRWA has notified its customers via letter and on its website.

Recently, Republicans have been claiming and running attack ads that Democrats did not vote for the pay increase for teachers in the last legislative session. This is loathsome propaganda. Democrats have been calling for pay raises for a decade, as well as increased funding for schools, which would have led to better pay.

Recently I attended a town hall meeting hosted by Senator Joni Ernst, and I asked whether she believed the 2020 election was stolen. To me it is the central issue of the upcoming presidential election. Not because I want it to be, but because Donald Trump and his allies have made it so. To me, the 2024 election is about truth and integrity. I thank the Senator for taking the question and engaging in somewhat of a discussion.
