Burbank Unified School District Superintendent John Paramo resigned Thursday, June 5, following revelations of an alleged $93,000 conflict-of-interest scheme involving school board member Charlene Tabet and her daughter, BreAnn Weist, which is now under criminal investigation. At a closed session meeting last night, the Board of Education voted 4-0 to accept Paramo’s resignation, with Tabet absent from the meeting. The board appointed Oscar Macias as acting superintendent until further notice.

Police responded to a call regarding a man who was allegedly prowling outside of a home in the 1500 block of Rollin Street at 1:30 a.m. on May 25. Upon arrival, Officers contacted a man who matched the suspect's description. He told officers he had an intention of entering the victims residence and was subsequently arrested. oTwo men were arrested on firearms and narcotics charges near Orange Grove Avenue and the 110 Freeway at 1:54 a.m. on May 21.
