    The Patagonia Town Council voted 5-0 to adopt a $4.3 million budget for Fiscal Year 2026 at a one-hour meeting Wednesday evening attended by eight members of the public in person and four more on Zoom. The Council also voted 5-0 to dissolve the Patagonia Public Library Advisory Board, which has existed for decades, and replace it with a new “Library Operational Advisory Council,” whose members will be appointed by the Town Manager.

    Patagonia residents and volunteer firefighters passionately lobbied the Patagonia Town Council during a three-hour meeting last Wednesday to continue to contract with Patagonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue (PVFR) for the Town’s fire and emergency medical services. The special non-voting meeting, officially called a ‘workshop,’ featured presentations by PVFR Acting Fire Chief Zay Hartigan and Sonoita-Elgin Fire District (SEFD) chief Marc Meredith.
