DeMasie was talking about the big green Simply from Scratch vehicle, where operator Lauren Flanders was ringing up sales for the family-owned farm-to-table business based in Noblesville. Milk, eggs, baked goods and more are stocked inside the bus for purchase.

Barbecue aficionados and owners of gas grills, do you clean your grill down after every use? I don’t mean scrub the cooking grates. I mean, do you remove the cooking grates and wipe down the flavor bars, the burner tubes, and replace the grease tray after every use? Because I don’t. You don’t need to, right? That seems like a lot of useless busy work. After all, fire is the ultimate cleanser.

PENDLETON — Indiana Gov. Mike Braun, along with State Reps. Ethan Lawson and Kyle Pierce, spoke at a Madison County Tea Party meeting at the Community Building in Falls Park. Braun joined in the “free picnic” part of the gathering before talking to the group of about 75. He spoke about a wide range of topics, starting with his path from the U.S. Senate to the Statehouse, Donald Trump’s election victory in 2016 and government overspending, to aspects of health care, education, job training and more.

PENDLETON — A Pendleton Scouts of America group conducted a flag retirement ceremony recently. Troop 262G spent a weekend camping out at Eden United Methodist Church in Hancock County. The highlight of the Saturday was the flag ceremony, during which old flags were processed and burned. The troop — all girls, as the G following the troop number indicates — explained that since most flags are now nylon, they must be cut into pieces to burn.

PENDLETON — State Street in downtown Pendleton was lined with protesters Saturday, as about 500 people showed up to an event organized to express dissatisfaction with the direction and leadership of the country. People expressed various reasons for being there. But all agreed they were unhappy with some of the events that have been happening around the United States. “It was a had-to-do day,” said Harold Calvert of Lapel, who held a sign that said “Honk” facing traffic traveling west through town.
4th at the Falls coming up

PENDLETON — The annual 4th at the Falls celebration, organized by Main Street Pendleton, is a go this year, with a slate of activities running from afternoon to evening — and with an eye to a potentially bigger event next year. “I think we’re going to have good attendance because it’s a Friday night,” event coordinator Niki Brown said. “I think it always makes it more enjoyable when it’s a weekend celebration.”The event is set for 3:30-10:30 p.m. July 4 at the Sports Complex in Falls Park.
