It operated locally from 1899 and ceased local service in 1941, when, according to the historic marker on the east side of Pendleton Avenue north of State Street, “automobiles doomed” it. “On Saturday, January 18, 1941, the line through Pendleton ceased operation forever,” the marker reads.
