Pest Management Professional
Pest Management Professional magazine has been the foremost technical journal in the pest control industry since its inception in 1933. Over the last eighty years, the publication has adapted alongside the profession, transitioning from the term exterminators to pest control operators and eventually to pest management professionals. It originally started as Exterminators Log, founded by Al Cossetta, who operated National Extermination Products Co. in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a key figure in establishing the Kansas City Exterminating Society. Launched on January 1, 1933, the magazine filled a crucial gap in the industry, coming before the formation of a national association for pest management professionals. The title of the magazine mirrors the changes within the field. It began as Exterminators Log in 1933, changed to Pests in 1938, then evolved into Pests and Their Control in 1939, became Pest Control in 1949, and ultimately transformed into Pest Management Professional in 2007.

Just as athletes track their stats to improve performance, pest control businesses can rely on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and hit their goals. In sports, reviewing stats helps players refine their game; in business, monitoring KPIs daily ensures teams stay on track to reach monthly objectives. Imagine a runner trying to shave seconds off their sprint time — if they check their progress only once a month, they may not realize a bad habit is slowing them down.
