    For Roughly the past 15 years, the Pipestone Cruizers Car Show has been a staple of the Water Tower Festival. “It’s great to see all the classy cars,” said Cruizers member Ron Belcher, whose event brings much enjoyment to vehicle enthusiasts across the board.     Craig and Angie Raatz are planning to modify and expand an existing feedlot located in the northwest quarter of Section 22 of Sweet Township, southwest of Pipestone. The Pipestone County Commissioners held a feedlot public meeting to take comments on the Raatz’s plans during their June 10 meeting. The existing feedlot consists of a total confinement barn with a concrete manure storage pit under the barn and open lots without runoff control.

    Pipestone County Commissioners during their June 10 meeting approved, contingent upon the review of the bid documents, a low bid of $409,109.95 from A&C Excavating, of Marshall, for three box culvert replacement projects north of Holland. A&C Excavating’s was the low bid from among six received. The highest bid was $482,866.86 and the engineer’s estimate was $448,812.50. “It looks like we got some really good bids,” said Pipestone County Highway Engineer Nick Bergman.

    On Tuesday evening, June 10, a small group of bicyclists met in the picnic shelter at Westview Park in Pipestone to go for a ride. Myron Koets, who organized the ride, hopes to make it a weekly event. Koets is president of the Friends of the Casey Jones Trail Association, which advocates for the continued development of the Casey Jones Trail. He said the weekly rides are endorsed by the Friends of the Casey Jones Trail Association, but not affiliated with the group.

    ALBERTVILLE — Pipestone Area Schools junior Aurora Winsel drew a tough lane assignment in the 400-meter run at the Minnesota State High School League state meet. Winsel was placed in the first lane during the third heat during Tuesday’s preliminaries at St. Michael-Albertville High School. She had a similar entry in the 200-meter dash prelims as well, coming out from one of the outside lanes. She persevered in the 200, taking the ninth and last qualifying spot in 25.60 seconds.
