For Roughly the past 15 years, the Pipestone Cruizers Car Show has been a staple of the Water Tower Festival. “It’s great to see all the classy cars,” said Cruizers member Ron Belcher, whose event brings much enjoyment to vehicle enthusiasts across the board. The show is open to traditional cars, trucks, imports, motorcycles, tractors, rat rods and even golf carts.

ALBERTVILLE — Pipestone Area Schools junior Aurora Winsel drew a tough lane assignment in the 400-meter run at the Minnesota State High School League state meet. Winsel was placed in the first lane during the third heat during Tuesday’s preliminaries at St. Michael-Albertville High School. She had a similar entry in the 200-meter dash prelims as well, coming out from one of the outside lanes. She persevered in the 200, taking the ninth and last qualifying spot in 25.60 seconds.

STILLWATER — Pipestone Area Schools track and field athlete Troy Mead reported he stood up in front of his teammates, and apologized. Mead was sorry for his false start to open a 4×200-meter relay at the Section 3A meet. Arrow teammates rallied around him. “I was devastated,” said Mead, now a Sioux Falls-based firefighter working in the hazardous materials division. “We all came together.

BECKER — There she was, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton junior Teigyn O’Leary standing among the state’s best in Class A girls golf at Pebble Creek. A Minnesota State High School League official presented O’Leary with her medal after a scorching performance — tying for seventh place overall with two other golfers (Alyssa Swedzinski from state team champion Dawson-Boyd and Kianna Johnson of powerhouse Walker-Hackensack-Akeley). “It’s a tough course,” said RTR head coach Tim O’Leary, Teigyn’s father.
