The Boston Red Sox head to Houston for a three-game series against the Astros, starting Monday (8:10 p.m. ET). Right now, nobody wants to play the Astros. Houston is 9-1 in its last ten games and has a 4.0-game lead in the American League West. Keep in mind, this is the same team that looked like it’d miss the playoffs a few months ago. Houston made some important MLB trade deadline moves and is now cruising. The Astros don’t have any MLB leaders 2024, but that hasn’t stopped them in the second half.

The Cleveland Guardians will take their five-game winning streak to Milwaukee for a three-game series over the weekend. That five-game winning streak has given the Guardians a four-game lead in the AL Central, where they’re now 72-49 on the season. Oddly enough, Cleveland has a run differential of only 83 runs. The Royals, who are third in the AL Central, have an 84-run differential but six fewer wins than the Guardians. Meanwhile, the Brewers are in control of the NL Central.

The New York Yankees will travel to Detroit for a three-game series over the weekend. During this series, MLB will hold “Player’s Weekend,” and the Yankees and Tigers will play in Williamsport, PA, for the MLB Little League Classic on Sunday. The first two games of this series will still be in Detroit and played in Comerica Park. With that out of the way, the Yankees are currently tied with the Baltimore Orioles for first place in the AL East.
