The Spirit is back. Infuse Studio and Silver Lining Interactive present Spirit of the North 2, the sequel to their third-person adventure game, which they describe as “the Stray of fox games!” In an enchanted land inspired by Nordic folklore, the malevolent shaman Grimnir has cast a deadly curse over everything (though it still looks darn pretty). Back in the heyday of mascot platformers, Gex was invented by Crystal Dynamics as a mascot for the 3DO.

Here’s something pretty cool. Normally when we hear about new games being developed for older consoles, they’re homebrew efforts created by indie programmers. But Earthion, announced this week, wad created by Japanese developer Ancient Corporation and contains a soundtrack by legendary video game composer Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage, ActRaiser).
