Queensland Law Society
The Queensland Law Society serves as a vibrant center for the legal community in Queensland, focusing on active engagement with both its members and the general public. Its goal is to provide leadership, practical solutions, and dependable support. With a membership of over 9,000 legal professionals, the Society works to enhance public understanding of the law, safeguard individual rights, and highlight the numerous advantages that solicitors offer to the community. The Queensland Law Society aids legal practitioners in improving their services while ensuring they adhere to the high standards required in Queensland's legal profession. Additionally, it supports the public by advising the government on legal reforms that impact Queensland residents and striving to enhance access to legal resources. The Society has specific legal responsibilities, including issuing practicing certificates, maintaining records of solicitors, overseeing the management of solicitors’ trust accounts, and ensuring public protection. Incorporated under the Legal Profession Act 2007, the Queensland Law Society is governed by a council that is elected by its members.
