So the Ibrox takeover is complete. It was all confirmed on Friday evening with a short press release. It didn’t give much detail, in fact, it was all very vague, and it still is. There was no announcement from Companies House, and the Americans didn’t even bother with a media conference. In fact, Andrew Cavenagh was thousands of miles away in the U.S.Scott McDermott’s article on Friday evening was that of a sycophantic fan boy wetting himself with excitement.

Oh well, there goes the Davide Ancelotti to Ibrox distraction, with news now circulating that Deportivo la Coruna have declared their interest in the son of Carlo. If Ancelotti is a smart man, which I’m sure he is, he’d choose La Liga 2 over the Scottish Premiership any day. I’d imagine that he has to weigh up which is the bigger challenge. Deportivo finished 15th in last season’s La Liga 2 table. Not a great finish for them, but it would represent an interesting challenge for Ancelotti.

Well, it looks like Steven Gerrard has removed himself from the race to become the next Ibrox manager. Keith Jackson cites a ‘lifestyle choice’ as the reasoning. And also the fact that Gerrard couldn’t convince his missus to depart sunny climes of Bahrain in exchange for pishy wet Glasgow. Can’t say I’d blame her for that, as that would be a pretty raw deal, all things considered.

An article in the Record this morning states that Kaspar Schmeichel ‘may quit Celtic’ after his blunder in Saturday’s cup final. This is according to none other than Gordon Strachan. I believe Kaspar Schmeichel is made of tougher stuff than that. One blunder does not a season define, I think it’s fair to say. Schmeichel has contributed a hell of a lot to Celtic in his first season with the club. But one thing that cannot be avoided is that he’s not getting any younger.

Another bonkers day, another bonkers dollar from the American takeover at Ibrox. And if you were to believe the media hype, they’ll be ploughing BILLIONS of dollars into the young club, which is almost dead on it’s feet at the ripe old age of 13. Yes, today Luka Modric might have said that he’d come to Ibrox. Then again, he might not have. But nobody knows for sure, except of course, Guillem Balague, who said that he didn’t say if he would, or wouldn’t come to Ibrox. But he didn’t say no.
