Last week, I wrote an extensive article on Celtic and Brendan Rodgers requiring a sterner challenge than the club has been getting of late. In this article, I intimated that the challenge should come from Ibrox under their prospective new owners. But I quite clearly stated that I took back that assertion on the last Trinity Tims podcast after what went on at Ibrox last weekend. I said I was quite happy for us to continue winning treble after treble at the expense of the Ibrox club. And I meant that.

When the Ibrox side releases it’s next set of accounts, it isn’t going to make for pretty reading, and this is something Keith Jackson would want to pay attention to, but I’ll get to that soon. Chances are they’re going to lose in excess of £20 million since the last loss of £17 million was reported. So let’s just round it up to around £40 million lost in the space of two seasons. Now, if that doesn’t ring alarm bells with UEFA, I don’t know what will.

Dave King has been wheeled out again in the Record to self-aggrandise and sell his bullshit to the world about how his bit of a “legacy issue” is going to catch Celtic and make Ibrox all powerful again. Holy shit, this man doesn’t half love himself, does he? I’ve read a lot of self-aggrandisement in my time as a blogger, but this takes to the f&%$ing biscuit. This is King driving a 100 car freight train through the concept of modesty. And then some. It has to be read to be believed.

So, the plans to increase Elland Road from 37,000 seats to 53,000 seats, has the media wetting themselves today. They somehow imagine that if the 49ers consortium takes over at Ibrox, at the top of their priority list will be the expansion of Ibrox. Dream on, I say. While Celtic will have converted the main stand and increased the Celtic Park capacity to 80,000 seats, they’ll still be waiting at Ibrox.

Since the Ibrox fans unveiled their horrible TIFO on Sunday, there has been statements and condemnation from the club, the media, and many more outlets. As we pointed out on the Trinity Tims podcast, the media only condemned it after the Ibrox club itself had condemned it. YouTube: The Good, The Bad and the UglyIn reality, we all know that nothing would have happened if the club hadn’t released a statement to the media. For the Ibrox club, it was an exercise in damage limitation.
