RotoViz
The concept of "Zero RB" was first introduced on RotoViz in 2013 by Shawn Siegele, who won $250,000 in the NFFC that year and finished in first and second place in the NFFC Primetime Main Event. As a 10-time winner in the Main Event leagues, he now leads RotoViz, which features a team of expert writers, including seasoned high-stakes players and Best Ball specialists. While "Zero RB" certainly helped RotoViz gain recognition, it’s the over 1500 insightful articles and innovative tools that truly make it a trusted resource for both serious and casual fantasy players. Whether you need assistance with setting your season-long lineups, creating customizable cheat sheets for your drafts, or finding apps to enhance your trading strategies, RotoViz provides the essential tools for success. If you're searching for the next breakout star, RotoViz offers data-driven insights to help you identify potential league winners. The site's analysis has previously highlighted players like Le’Veon Bell, DeAndre Hopkins, and David Johnson as early picks in their rookie drafts, and all three later became highly coveted players in dynasty formats.

There were only a few more obvious dot connections in this past draft cycle than attaching a tight end to the Indianapolis Colts, preferably the earlier in the draft, the better. The team obliged by using the 14th overall selection on Tyler Warren out of Penn State. But does this selection automatically mean fantasy fortune and glory await Warren and those who draft him? Penn State has developed a justified reputation for sending athletic marvels into the NFL.

Players drafted on Day 3 and beyond rarely find much fantasy relevance. Yet there have been a handful of recent undrafted free agent running backs to make some noise in the NFL. Some of the biggest UDFA RB hits include Priest Holmes, Arian Foster, LeGarrette Blount, Austin Ekeler, James Robinson, Thomas Rawls, and Phillip Lindsay.

Two years ago, in RotoViz’s grand tradition of advising to zag when others zig, I wrote about fading QBs (and also tight ends) in superflex dynasty startups. Obviously, the impact of this advice rocked the foundation of dynasty drafting: In 2022 and 2023 Triflex startup drafts, before this strategy piece ran, there were 20 QBs being taken in the first five rounds, but by 2024, that number plunged to . . . 19 QBs going off the board in the first five rounds.

As a rookie, Garrett Wilson ranked 13th in EP/G, sixth in targets, and 31st in PPR/G, with one of the worst FPOE/G (No. 240). Wilson gave us three WR1 performances, averaging just under 28 fantasy points per game (27.9), with four other weeks as a WR2, posting 16.9 PPR/G. He played with Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Joe Flacco, sharing time as the Jets’ quarterback. Also, Breece Hall tore his ACL in October of that season. Wilson’s Year 1 inefficiencies could be explained by the team context.

David Johnson was the best running back in football for a season and a half. Few RBs possess Johnson’s size and athleticism combined with his receiving talent. But over the years a number of backs have been able to give us David-Johnson-lite production with a much smaller frame and fewer athletic gifts. It may seem like ages ago when Devin Singletary was last a fantasy-relevant back.
