UPDATE: Wednesday's game has been postponed. It will be played as part of a doubleheader (traditional) starting at 1:10 PM CST on Thursday. The Colorado Rockies are off to what can best be described as a challenging start to the 2025 season. At 4-18, the Rockies have the worst record in baseball even being surpassed (barely) by the historically dreadful White Sox. Unfortunately, even Mother Nature seems to be trying to get in the way of Colorado getting back on track.

The Rockies are one of the most loyal franchises in baseball history...to a fault really. At seemingly every trade deadline there has been talks of a few players that could fetch a nice return for a team looking to either rebuild or retool. Yet, time and time again, the Rockies hold on to those players, only to see them walk at the end of the year, with absolutely zero to show for it.

In what was the best all-around game the Rockies have played this year, the Rockies bullpen did their best to spoil yet another terrific pitching performance. Cal Quantrill took advantage of a very aggressive lineup, going 7.2 innings, surrendering just three hits, no walks and striking out an impressive nine hitters. It looks like the team meeting that they called might make this a solid team after all (hopefully you caught my sarcasm).

This team has been so frustrating to watch. After a very solid series split against the Padres that saw them put together one of the largest comebacks in franchise history, the team headed south in what seemed like an excellent opportunity to turn the season around and build some confidence. Despite Ryan Feltner's dominant start, they were dealt a deflating loss due to an implosion of epic proportions from the Rockies bullpen.

After a great opportunity to get their first series win, the Rockies threw away every opportunity they had, ending in a sweep; this secured their spot as the, now, second worst team in baseball (we're coming for you White Sox). The Rockies will stay on the east coast and hope that they can figure things out away from home, but things will not get easier. The Pirates are a tough team with some really good pitching (which could be bad news for the struggling Rockies offense).

How do you recover from last night's game absolute meltdown if you are the Rockies? That is a great question and something that will be interesting to watch tonight. Can the offense carry over its early performance from yesterday? Can they get more than just one big inning? Rockies fans were treated to one of the best games the team has played all year, well, at least for eight innings that is. The Rockies offense jumped all over the opener, Sixto Sanchez, who was all over the plate and the young Rockies team made him pay early on. A leadoff double by Ezequiel Tovar was followed by hits from Ryan McMahon, Charlie Blackmon and Brendon Rodgers. The Rockies were up 2-0 and seemed like they had a solid lead early on, something they haven't done a lot of.

The Rockies (7-21) are coming off a homestand that wasn't that bad. After taking just one game against the Mariners (16-13), they were able to take a surprising series split in a four-game series against the Padres (14-18). They were then swept in a short, two-game series against the Astros (9-19).
