The Rockies are one of the most loyal franchises in baseball history...to a fault really. At seemingly every trade deadline there has been talks of a few players that could fetch a nice return for a team looking to either rebuild or retool. Yet, time and time again, the Rockies hold on to those players, only to see them walk at the end of the year, with absolutely zero to show for it.

In what was the best all-around game the Rockies have played this year, the Rockies bullpen did their best to spoil yet another terrific pitching performance. Cal Quantrill took advantage of a very aggressive lineup, going 7.2 innings, surrendering just three hits, no walks and striking out an impressive nine hitters. It looks like the team meeting that they called might make this a solid team after all (hopefully you caught my sarcasm).

This team has been so frustrating to watch. After a very solid series split against the Padres that saw them put together one of the largest comebacks in franchise history, the team headed south in what seemed like an excellent opportunity to turn the season around and build some confidence. Despite Ryan Feltner's dominant start, they were dealt a deflating loss due to an implosion of epic proportions from the Rockies bullpen.

After a great opportunity to get their first series win, the Rockies threw away every opportunity they had, ending in a sweep; this secured their spot as the, now, second worst team in baseball (we're coming for you White Sox). The Rockies will stay on the east coast and hope that they can figure things out away from home, but things will not get easier. The Pirates are a tough team with some really good pitching (which could be bad news for the struggling Rockies offense).
