Well, we believe in exit velocity, bat flips, launch angles, stealing home, the hanging curveball, Big League Chew, sausage races, and that unwritten rules of any kind are self-indulgent, overrated crap. We believe Greg Maddux was an actual wizard. We believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment protecting minor league baseball and that pitch framing is both an art and a science.

It is safe to say that the Pittsburgh Pirates are an organization that, at best, is tone deaf when it comes to public relations. Ownership seems too busy rolling around in their money in their basement to hear the cries from fans (and really everyone) to actually invest in their roster. Instead, the group is content to be the least competitively relevant sports team in a city with such a rich and vibrant sports environment.

While the Milwaukee Brewers have found a way to succeed during owner Mark Attanasio's tenure as owner, it hasn't come without some headaches. Attanasio has come under fire especially in recent years for failing to authorize increased spending on the team's roster and the subsequent failure of the organization in the postseason with just two playoff series wins since he bought the team. It isn't fair to place everything on Attanasio's wallet or lack thereof.

With the end of spring training and the start of the season, teams like the Milwaukee Brewers still have to deal with the fallout of the roster cuts from camp. Very often, the cuts result in a straightforward transaction of moving a guy from big league camp to minor league camp and others are just given their walking papers and become free agents.

Make no mistake, it truly stinks that the Milwaukee Brewers lost their Opening Day matchup to the Yankees. The Brewers' offense was not great (especially Jackson Chourio) and Jared Koenig laid an egg in his first relief appearance of 2025 to give New York the two runs that proved to be the margin of victory. Not all the news was bad.
