By in large, the Boston Red Sox's bullpen has been a strength of the team in 2025. They rank third by fWAR (2.7) in all of baseball and sport a 3.64 ERA and 3.48 FIP across over 222 innings of work. That production has been a collective effort, but the consistency that Justin Slaten has given them has played a massive role. Unfortunately, the latest injury news from the Red Sox is threatening that dominance.

Jackson was swept up in the Black Sox scandal over conspiring to fix the 1919 World Series, even though he played his brains out and there was a lot of evidence to suggest he wasn't involved at all. His lifetime ban has been hotly debated for decades and today marks a huge shift in that discussion.

When the Pittsburgh Pirates fired manager Derek Shelton, they looked like an absolutely defeated team. This was a roster that was put together using the change from Bob Nutting's couch, but it wasn't like Shelton had helped the cause much. In deciding to give Don Kelly a shot at the job, the Pirates were hoping that he would bring some much needed energy. Well, Kelly did win his first game as manager against the Braves, so maybe this was the change Pittsburgh needed.
