Royal Purple Newspaper

The Royal Purple is a weekly newspaper at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, managed and operated by students. Established in 1901, it started as a monthly literary magazine for the Whitewater Normal School. At its inception, the team consisted of seven editors and four reporters. Today, it has transformed into a weekly publication featuring both an advertising and business team, along with an editorial staff of 14 members, earning recognition for its quality journalism.

There comes a day every year in the midst of the dance of the seasons when winter allows spring a brief interlude. Since we live in Wisconsin, that day may come in late February or late March and will likely have the longevity of the latest K-pop star as the dance of the seasons is often flighty and has its own beat. But it comes nevertheless, a day when you can hang up the heavy coat for a few hours, feel the warm rays of the sun and give thanks that you survived another long winter.

UW-Whitewater wrestlers Brayden Peet and Dominik Mallinder earned All-American honors at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championships, Saturday, March 15 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island. Peet earned a fourth place finish in the 165-pound weight class, in his first NCAA nationals appearance. He started the tournament strong on Friday with an 8-2 decision win against Ithaca College wrestler Konrad Parker.

The UW-Whitewater baseball team remains undefeated after eight games. The Warhawks have maintained a No. 1 ranking through three weeks of the season as they approach their home-opener against Saint Mary’s (Minnesota) Wednesday, March 26. Despite falling short to Misericordia University (Pennsylvania) in the 2024 NCAA Division III College World Series Championship, Whitewater entered this season with a No. 1 target on their back along with the pride and pressures that come with it.
