UW-Whitewater wrestlers Brayden Peet and Dominik Mallinder earned All-American honors at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championships, Saturday, March 15 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island. Peet earned a fourth place finish in the 165-pound weight class, in his first NCAA nationals appearance. He started the tournament strong on Friday with an 8-2 decision win against Ithaca College wrestler Konrad Parker.

The UW-Whitewater baseball team remains undefeated after eight games. The Warhawks have maintained a No. 1 ranking through three weeks of the season as they approach their home-opener against Saint Mary’s (Minnesota) Wednesday, March 26. Despite falling short to Misericordia University (Pennsylvania) in the 2024 NCAA Division III College World Series Championship, Whitewater entered this season with a No. 1 target on their back along with the pride and pressures that come with it.

UW-Whitewater graduate Quint Studer may be one of the most successful alumni of the university, but also one of the most generous. The Warhawk alumnus is the owner of many different businesses including Healthcare Plus Solutions and two minor league baseball teams. Studer also created the Studer Group, a healthcare consulting firm which he sold for $325 million in 2015.

The globally esteemed UW-Whitewater Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team is underway with a brand new season coming off the program’s 14th national championship in 2024. While three of the Warhawks five starters have departed from the 2o24 championship team, a new class of seven freshmen will look to maintain the program’s excellence. Whitewater hosted a home tournament Friday Nov. 22 and Saturday Nov. 23 at Kachel Fieldhouse.

After being ranked No. 3 by d3football.com in the preseason top 25, the UW-Whitewater football team finished their 2024 season with an underwhelming 6-4 record that left them well out of the playoffs for the first time since 2017. In addition to a week three loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, the Warhawks were bested by three WIAC teams: UW-Stout, UW-Platteville and UW-La Crosse.

Head coach Tony Guinn and the UW-Whitewater Men’s Soccer team’s season came to a close in the second round of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tournament in a matchup with UW-Eau Claire Friday, Nov. 8. Guinn’s 2024 squad finished with a record of 10-7-4. The record is slightly worse than the Warhawks 2023 record of 13-1-5. “We had difficulty scoring goals,” Guinn said. “That can always come back and haunt you – when you don’t score enough goals.

UW-Whitewater football defensive lineman Matt Burba has excelled in both athletics and academics during his time with the football program. Burba has earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) scholastic honor roll twice as well as being a consistent key contributor and leader on the football team. “Being at Whitewater has done a whole lot for me,” he said.

The UW-Whitewater men and women’s cross country teams hosted the Warhawk Open on a course weaving through the Warhawk athletic facilities and wooded area near the Williams Center, Friday, Oct. 25. The men won the meet with three runners in the top five of the 8K. Freshman out of Oconomowoc, Bryce Faith, led the way with a third place finish (26:30.7).

The UW-Whitewater men’s soccer team currently holds four international players on its roster. The team’s head coach Tony Guinn explained how he thinks more international enrollment across the board at the university could significantly bolster athletics and provide financial relief for UW-Whitewater as well as its surrounding community. Guinn was born in Northern Ireland, where he lived for the first 10 years of his life before his family immigrated to the United States.
