In late 2024, the American-based company IMG exited from holding Australian Fashion Week (AFW) with the leading reason cited was lack of profitability. By the way, as of March 2025, IMG as part of Endeavour is owned by private equity firm Silver Lake. The whole point of private equity is to acquire companies, increase its value (reduce costs, increase revenue), and sell it for a profit. While many were up in arms about the word profit being used — well, I mean, fashion is a business, isn’t it?

I’m that person who is really hard to buy for. I admit, I even struggle coming up with my own wish list because: I hate the idea of buying something that is disposable/’just another thing’. I have lots of things already in my possession and I like them a lot, and I’m trying to have less. I’m particular(ly annoying, especially for those who have to buy gifts for me). I have already searched far and wide when making purchases so I kind of know what’s out there.

Even if you didn’t realise it, it’s likely probably seen the work of Julia Rabinowitsch — more often known as . It’s in the details: the tortoiseshell comb placed just-so by a bathroom sink, a Cartier watch draped across an open book, the contents of a handbag artfully arranged in an airport security tray. (Yes, she owns her own airport security trays for shoots.) There’s a specific visual language she’s crafted. Planned and haphazard. Tiny luxuries in everyday settings. Caught-in-a-moment.
