By Everson Luhanga Police tracked down 40-year-old Mauro Mucambe Junior, who was wanted in Mozambique, and shot him dead after he opened fire. Mucambe was linked to a Pretoria kidnapping case and was hiding out in Fourways after police arrested two suspects in Midrand. Police say Mucambe was a major figure in Mozambique’s kidnapping underworld. He was wanted for several kidnappings and a warrant for his arrest was issued by police in Maputo in August 2024.

City Power guards were shot at by armed criminals during a cable theft incident in Bezuidenhout Park on Sunday. Armed gangs are fighting a violent war against City Power and police as they try to steal copper cable from Johannesburg’s electricity network. So far this year, more than 170 suspects have been arrested in a major fight against cable theft and damage to power equipment.

The burnt body found in a bushy area in Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg, has been confirmed as 34-year-old Sibongile Hadebe. Sibongile, who was known as Sibo, lived in Mamelodi East, Gauteng. She was last seen on 19 May.
