    MULLAN – For more than eight decades, the Lookout Pass Free Ski School has been teaching area youth the ins and outs necessary to hit the slopes.  Tammy Nusz and her husband, Chris, have been involved with the school for the past 22 years, including running the school for 20 years. The school is a nonprofit extension of Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area that runs entirely off donations and the efforts of volunteers.

    PINEHURST – Idaho State Fire Marshals said a faulty neon sign resulted in a fire on Thursday evening at Jim’s Towing and Auto Repair.  According to reports, Shoshone County Fire District #2 and other emergency services responded to the fire just after 6 p.m. The fire began in the office area of the building and did not spread into the auto shop portion.  The ISFM reported that the fire damage was limited to the office, but there is some smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.

    Mid-March snowstorms have put the Silver Valley’s local ski hills in prime position to finish the winter strong.  Last weekend, Silver Mountain received more than a foot of new snow and according to Silver’s Marketing Manager Gus Colburn, the extra snow was just what the doctor ordered. “The late-season snowstorm was a welcome surprise this weekend,” Colburn said.

    WALLACE –– A Silver Valley woman is facing up to seven years in prison after a jury returned a guilty verdict last Wednesday in Shoshone County’s District Court.  Jamie Kleinbeck, 38, was found guilty of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after previously pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges from the same case.
