KELLOGG – The Silver Valley Cat Wranglers have a little bit of breathing room thanks to a recent fundraiser that went above and beyond for the local feline rescue group. According to Juli Zook, the group’s recent silent auction netted them $8,500, almost half of what the Wranglers spent last year on spays and neuters. Hosted at the Dirty Dog... err, Dirty Kitty Saloon, owners Mike and Linda Kennaugh have made a habit of hosting fundraisers and donating the night’s sales revenue to the cause.

PINEHURST – Just over one year ago, the Silver Valley was hit hard following the loss of Real Life Ministeries’ Pastor Gene Jacobs, but over the past few weeks, the church and community came up with a wonderful way to honor Jacobs’ legacy. Pastor Kevin Kessler, who took over as the leader of the church, was recently approached by Tom and Stacey Hoffman and explained to him they had been wrestling with idea to honor Pastor Gene, and they wanted to see what Kessler thought.

KELLOGG – The Kellogg School District is extending its pilot four-day school week into next school year according to superintendent Lance Pearson. In May 2024, the Kellogg School Board unanimously approved the adoption of the shortened schedule for the 2024/25 school year, but on an exploratory, pilot basis. In March, another unanimous decision was made to extend the pilot schedule for another year.

KELLOGG – Students in Kellogg High School’s jazz choir were recently recognized as one of the best groups in the region after winning at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho. KHS Performing Arts Director Adam Ream has had a steady run of success at the festival, for both the choir and the school’s jazz band. This year marked the jazz choir’s second win since 2023, while the jazz band won in 2022 and 2024.

MURRAY – Something unique is happening this weekend in the former seat of Shoshone County. Members of the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus, commonly referred to as Clampers, from the Irish Kate 1858 Chapter in Spokane, are hosting several events in Murray as part of their mission to restore and preserve local history.
