    WALLACE — Shoshone County commissioners are considering changes to guidelines for future commissioner meetings.  BOCC Chairman Jeff Zimmerman recently presented a list of five rules that had been discussed that could be printed on the back of the board’s meeting agendas. Both the board and the public would be required to adhere to them during all future meetings. Commissioner Melissa Cowles also proposed an additional rule during the discussion that was added to the list.

    OSBURN – An open house is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss an upcoming bridge project near Osburn.  According to a release from the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC), the Terror Gulch Bridge has reached the end of its service life and needs replacing. The project is part of the Leading Idaho Local Bridge Program.

    OSBURN — Earlier this month, Jason Woody was officially sworn in as the new police chief of Osburn, bringing more than two decades of law enforcement experience to the role. Woody has served with the Osburn Police Department for the past nine years, most recently as lieutenant under longtime Chief Darell Braaten, who retired earlier this year. His appointment was made official during a ceremony led by Osburn Mayor Kip McGillivray. "He's just an exceptional cop," McGillivray said.

    KELLOGG — Not many people realize that more than 100 schools once stood along the Coeur d’Alene River. Marvin Lake wasn’t one of them. Recently, Marvin’s wife and sons published "Schools of Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene River Basin," a 91-page photo collection capturing nearly every school that has existed along the river. The book includes historic buildings from Mullan, Wallace, Osburn, Kellogg, Pinehurst and surrounding communities.
