South Coast Herald

South Coast Herald

For 78 years, the South Coast Herald has proudly held the title of 'Leader in Local News.' Our history dates back to 1935 when we were known as the South Coast Reveille, and a copy could be purchased for just 'twopence' (now priced at R3). The very first front page featured an advertisement for the opening of the Southbroom Hotel, which claimed to have the 'largest swimming pool on the South Coast.' While the newspaper has thrived over the years, the hotel has since closed. Shortly after our inception, the Reveille became the Herald, maintaining a strong reputation for trustworthiness and keeping the South Coast community informed and entertained. The Herald is widely recognized as one of South Africa's leading local newspapers, offering a diverse range of news, photographs, letters, community insights, sports, and entertainment. Additionally, we have been honored to receive the Caxton Group's award for 'Best Sold Newspaper' for three consecutive years.
