Fraudster police officials are calling victims of crime, especially in sexual assault cases, and requesting payment in order for Saps to arrest the suspect. The Saps Ugu Communications District office said that under no circumstances must the public make a payment. Saps does not request payment for investigations and the arrest of suspects. Further to that, Saps does not request payment for any job opportunities/recruitment in advertised posts or to fast-track an application.

Ugu District Municipality has given me a sliver of hope. I am writing to thank them for the great service, as I was recently pleasantly surprised by the help I got from several staff members at Ugu. Not only was the problem (a neighbour’s burst meter and my home’s low pressure) sorted out quickly and professionally, but with a smile. Refreshing to receive help without having to beg for it.

The search for Jenene Abigail Moonsamy from Marburg ended tragically on Monday this week. When the 26-year-old didn’t return home on Sunday evening after attending a baby shower celebration in Margate, her family and friends raised the alarm. A frantic search began for the woman, with her photo being circulated on social media. On Monday morning, she was found dead on the R61 Shelly Beach onramp after her vehicle left the road and crashed.

Residents from Ramsgate to Hibberdene will get a one-month credit on their municipal bill for refuse removal only. Clr Tessa Perryman of Ward 13 said a critical Notice of Motion was passed during a special council meeting at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) last Friday. The motion sought to credit residents for services not rendered during the municipal workers’ strike between October 2024 and February this year.
