Southern Boating

Southern Boating Magazine stands out as one of the last independent consumer boating magazines in the U.S. Established in 1972 by Skip Allen, a passionate sailor, yachtsman, and publisher with a long history in the marine sector, the magazine has become a staple in boating culture. Skip's deep affection for his family inspired him to share his love for boating and marine life with his six children and seven grandchildren. A renowned figure in the boating community, he organized group excursions to the Bahamas long before such gatherings became popular. Today, Southern Boating holds the title of the largest boating magazine in the South. Skip’s legacy continues through his son, Skip Allen, Jr., who currently serves as the Publisher. The magazine operates from its headquarters in Pompano Beach, Florida.

As you explore new waters and visit different marinas, one of the most important things to keep in mind is ensuring your boat stays powered up. However, marinas don’t always use the same type of shore power outlets, and this can pose a challenge if the plug on your boat’s power cord doesn’t match the outlet at the dock. Fortunately, using a shore power adapter is an easy and safe way to make sure you’re able to connect to the marina’s power system, no matter the outlet type.
