In 2011, Safe Work Australia published the model Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws to be implemented across Australia. Including the term “model” in the title implies that these are the basis for use, and they can be modified. Safe Work Australia does not implement the laws on a federal basis. Most Commonwealth states and territories have separately implemented the laws as their own laws.
