Back home again in Indiana, for a tour of Sailrite's facility. Imagine my surprise when one day last summer while sitting at my desk in Annapolis I clicked to the website of longtime SpinSheet advertiser, Sailrite, for some background information and learned that since its inception the company has been based in a small town in Indiana, less than a two-hour drive from my hometown.

Will you  need a bigger boat? What you need to know about sharks in the Chesapeake. Have you seen a dorsal fin slice the surface of the Chesapeake Bay and wondered if you need a bigger boat? Just because you’re not in the ocean doesn’t mean you’re not in shark territory—specifically the sandbar shark, bull shark, sand tiger shark, smooth dogfish, and spiny dogfish. This sailing club travels light and goes where the wind blows. Going where the wind blows and, more importantly, where we can get charter sailboats! We rent what we need and have traveled all over the world utilizing safe and well-maintained sailboats as bareboat charters.

Here is the story how that boat, many years later, was restored and renamed by the author, who is now curious about racing her in Annapolis. I am a sailor. Okay, yes, I own several powerboats. And yes, my biggest boat is a cruising powerboat.

I have chartered in Greece four times and I’ve barely scratched the surface. There are so many island groups, each with a distinct personality, that you could keep busy for a lifetime of boating. The Cyclades to the south of the mainland are spectacular. Two of those, Paros and Antiparos, should be on your list if you find yourself setting sail in this part of the world. Situated at the heart of the Cyclades group, Paros and Antiparos could alone commandeer three days of your charter.
