    There has been no confirmation, yet, that the FX / Disney+ documentary Welcome to Wrexham will be renewed for a fifth season. It is “virtually guaranteed” that it will happen if Wrexham, currently second in League One, go up to the Championship, as they and most of their fans expect they will. That final push for the Premier League could be TV gold, whether they defy the odds and make a serious Championship challenge, or even better in dramatic terms for neutrals, if they crash and burn.

    I’ve loved Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ unconditionally since it first aired in 2020, a godforsaken year when the planet was in the grip of Covid, politics was becoming ever more insane and my own world had flown off its axis. It goes without saying the programme was and remains “Marmite” TV, something you adore or hate, and I understand why.

    FIFA last week announced details of prize money for this summer’s Club World Cup (CWC), an event to be played in major venues in the USA from 14 June to 13 July, and already much derided in some quarters. Players (here and here), coaches (here, here and here), welfare unions, fan organisations and human rights groups are among those who have already been critical but we’ll come back to that.
