Categories: Published April 20, 2025 Since joining the Jewish Light, I’ve been thinking more about my own Jewish upbringing—and part of that included the Yiddish my grandparents used, especially my Mama (my bubbe) and Baba. I’ve been hearing from quite a few of you who’ve already gone—or are planning to go—see “Roaring: Art, Fashion and the Automobile in France, 1918–1939” at the St. Louis Art Museum. One note stood out:“My husband and I just read your article that you posted in the Jewish Light about the art museum exhibit, “Roaring!” Nice research! TEL AVIV — On the morning of Oct. 7, 2023, Reut Karp was staying with a friend outside Tel Aviv when she was awakened by sirens. It was Simchat Torah, and she was about two hours from home at Kibbutz Re’im, a close-knit community of 435 residents just a couple of miles from the Gaza border. So, when she got a text from her ex-husband, Dvir Karp, saying their children were safe at the kibbutz with him and his girlfriend, Stav Kimchi, “I felt relieved,” Reut said.
