The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast in Palm City will celebrate seven decades of lifesaving work with local shelter pets during the Seventieth Anniversary Birthday Paw-ty on May 17. Celebrations—complete with raffles, coffee, and cupcakes—will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and adoption specials will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.In honor of the milestone, the humane society is aiming to find forever homes for at least 70 animals.

Twenty-one local nonprofit organizations were awarded $460,000 from The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The awards followed a grantmaking cycle that saw 40 applicants apply for more than $1.7 million in support for their missions.
