A 63-year-old man was killed Thursday evening after crashing head-on with a dump truck 1 mile west of Tahlequah. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Ricky W. Kerr was westbound on State Highway 51 in a 2011 Dodge Journey, and the driver of the 2000 freightliner was eastbound. At around 7:30 p.m., Kerr entered the eastbound lane and the two vehicles impacted. Kerr was pronounced dead on the scene by Cherokee Nation EMS. The driver of the truck was not injured.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 6 a.m. April 15 on 6015 Kenwood Road. Chad Flickinger was admitted in critical conditon after he was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was pronounced dead April 17.

A man was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm after he allegedly admitted to firing a weapon during a dispute. On April 14, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Cohen responded to West 806 Road for reports of threats being made. William Johnson, 76, accused a woman of having problems with people, and shooting at his dog. He went on to say that the woman's dog comes into his yard all the time, and he never shoots at the dog.

Four people were arrested after deputies were called to Shady Grove School for a shots fired call. On March 25, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Dustin Tannehill was dispatched to Shady Grove School after sounds of several gunshots were reported by staff members. An individual said close to 40 rounds of shots were fired and a woman arrived and said she heard several rounds over the course of a couple of months. She said she believed the shots were coming from Derek Fleming. Sgt.

A man who pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter after crashing into a wrecker driver and killing him while intoxicated has reportedly died. On Nov. 26, 2022, John Alic Mills, 31, was loading a disabled Tesla onto his Red Beards Towing wrecker on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 69 when 78-year-old Robert Marshall struck him with his 2006 Cadillac DTS. “The Cadillac departed the roadway to the right, entered the shoulder, and impacted the Tesla.
