The Missouri Office of Broadband Development (OBD) announced that the year’s first round of Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) funding is closed. During this initial round, OBD received a total of 519 applications, which would bring broadband to more than 192,000 of the state’s residents and businesses. OBD said this represents 90% of the locations eligible for the funding. Nearly $4 million in funding was requested. The next step will be for OBD to review those applications.

UPDATE, February 25: MSG Networks and Optimum announced on February 22 that they have settled their carriage dispute, and the sports network was again available. The companies did not release details of the settlement. The New York Post reported that the deal is for more than one year. It enables Optimum to sell lower-priced packages without MSG Networks. The sports network previously was on Optimum’s basic tier. Optimum now would offer Entertainment TV, Extra TV and Everything TV tiers.

Preliminary applications from Vermont broadband service providers (BSPs) for funding by the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program could serve virtually every eligible address in the state, according to the Vermont Community Broadband Board (VCBB). The BSPs’ applications for a share of the $229 million the state is receiving were made to Vermont’s BEAD organization, VT-BEAD.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has awarded $9 million in grants for five broadband projects in Tuolumne County in the Last Mile Federal Funding Account grant program. The grants are aimed at about 3,300 households. The county is in the east central region of the state. The awards are part of the final round of funding in the $2 billion grant program, which invests in projects that support disadvantaged and low-income homes.
