I often mention that hot air rising is what drives the weather, on a global scale and a local scale right here in our beautiful valley. On an even smaller scale, seeing a small parcel of hot air trapped in an envelope of brilliantly colored nylon rise into the air is not only fascinating, but it’s confirming. As long as hot air rises, all is right with nature, and the laws of physics are still in effect.

As of May 21, 2025, the City of Driggs came out with the first draft of their current transportation plan, which will go before the Planning and Zoning Commission for a public hearing on July 9 and the City Council will hear the finalized plan during a public hearing held on August 5.

The city council for Driggs heard the argument for their approval of the final phase of the Creekside V development, located just south of town before crossing the river where the previous four phases of Creekside have been developed. The council made the decision to table it after hearing the staff report, clarifying needed documents and evidence from the developer, and needing a clean and clear development agreement to feel comfortable approving the decision to allow them to move forward.

Beginning last year, Tetonia designated a rodeo grounds committee, who have organized and prioritized projects and pricing to utilize the city’s asset that hasn’t been in much use since the Driggs Rodeo started up. The group reported to the city council during their regular meeting on May 13 to hone in details and prepare for the busy lineup they already have scheduled for this summer. The rodeo committee has received many donations and volunteers to get the grounds up and working.
