Walkers and cyclists on the Interurban Trail south of Fairhaven will see a temporary reroute this summer, as the City of Bellingham removes two barriers to fish passage in Padden Creek under the pathway. The goal of the project is to make the creek passable for Chinook, coho and chum salmon, steelhead and sea-run cutthroat trout. The fish will then be able to swim upstream to habitat that has been restored or is being restored through other city projects.
