The Marshall County Leadership Challenge (MCLC) class of 2025 unveiled their class project with an official ribbon cutting and grand opening of “Comfort Cubby” at the Albertville Circuit Court last Friday, May 30. Comfort Cubby provides comfort and support to children navigating the court system in Marshall County. It is a fully stocked and renovated space with toy closets and chests within the county’s courthouses.

The Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce’s events continue to grow in popularity, from their monthly Good Morning Guntersville breakfasts to their Business After Hours to their ribbon cuttings. All are well attended. The last Good Morning Guntersville was at Riverview Campground and it is always a good one. Held in a pavilion, with the heady aromas of sizzling bacon and percolating coffee, it’s a good time.

Norma Jean Rowe, 91, of Scottsboro, Alabama died on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at home after an extended illness. Jean was born in Camden, Arkansas, on December 15,1933, to Edward Lampkin and Oleta L. Lampkin. Jean graduated from Chidester High School in 1951. She married her husband, Robert Ellis Rowe, on July 31,1952, in Wichita, Kansas. They had been married for 68 years at the time of his death in 2020. Jean attended business school and spent her career in bookkeeping.
