The Marshall County Leadership Challenge (MCLC) class of 2025 unveiled their class project with an official ribbon cutting and grand opening of “Comfort Cubby” at the Albertville Circuit Court last Friday, May 30. Comfort Cubby provides comfort and support to children navigating the court system in Marshall County. It is a fully stocked and renovated space with toy closets and chests within the county’s courthouses.

After two years of hard work and dedication, the Outdoor Classroom at Guntersville Elementary School held a community-wide ribbon cutting last Tuesday, May 13, where they received certification as an official Outdoor Classroom School through the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) Outdoor Classroom Program; the first of its kind in Marshall County. Of the more than 400 outdoor classrooms that exist at schools across the state, only 83 are certified by the AWF, including GES.

For the first time in seven years, both the valedictorian and salutatorian at Guntersville High School are female. This year, Katelyn Collins and Langley White are representing the senior class of 2025 with top academic honors. While Katelyn finished at number one with Langley right on her heels, the girls said they have worked in tandem for the last several years to secure the top two spots in their class. “We hoped it would come down between us,” Katelyn said.

During the last Marshall County Youth Leadership program of the 2024-2025 school year, juniors and seniors from each school in the county spent the day on Wednesday, May 16, learning about local law enforcement. The group of young leaders began their day at Arab City Hall, hearing from Circuit Court Judge Matt Elliott, District Court Judge Mitch Floyd and Arab Municipal Judge Clint Maze about their career trajectories and the roles they now serve, as well as their thoughts on leadership.
