Former Amboy athlete stays in touch with ClippersAMBOY – After Ashton Henkel had finished fifth grade, his family moved from Amboy to Byron. This of course took the student-athlete away from his friends in the classroom and in sports. However, Henkel and his Amboy friends didn’t let the 33 miles between the towns rupture the bonds they had created. Instead, they made sure to stay in touch.

AMBOY – In a night filled with great cuisine, cards, dice, and laughs, Amboy Fire District firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) were awarded for their service over the last year during the 2023 Amboy Fire Department Awards on Saturday, Dec. 31. Firefighter Kevin Glenn was named the Fire Fighter of the Year and Lieutenant Angel Dunn was named the EMT of the Year. Deputy Chief Jason Ramos earned the Mr. Consistent Award and Captain Nate Shaw received the Pride and Ownership Award.

Jones, Larson named to all-tournament teamAMBOY – In less than three minutes in the first quarter of the Amboy Girls Holiday Basketball Tournament Championship on Friday, Dec. 29, the Lady Clippers found themselves trailing Newman by seven as the Comets drained three 3-pointers. Wanting to win their tournament, the girls rallied to take a first quarter lead, and only gave it up for two minutes in the second quarter before winning the game and the tourney, 43-35.
