The Courier (Russellville, AR)
On January 28, 1875, a new publication emerged, initially called "Your Messenger for the Arkansas River Valley." Today, it is recognized as The Courier, with B.F. Jobe and James E. Battenfield as its first business manager and editor, respectively. In 1898, The Courier joined forces with the rival weekly publication, Russellville Democrat, to create The Courier-Democrat. By 1924, the newspaper made the transition to a daily format, offering news from Monday to Friday.
